Travel Guides

Practical planning guides for a trip to Israel, written by a licensed guide who works these sites every week.

Most of what people need before a trip to Israel is not on a tour page. It is the practical stuff: when to come, what the calendar does to an itinerary, what is realistic on the dates you have, and what to make of the news you have been reading.

These are the answers we give on the phone, written down. They are not marketing pages, and where the honest answer is “it depends” or “wait”, they say so.

Planning your trip

  • Best Time to Visit Israel — spring and autumn are the easy answer, but Shabbat and the festival calendar shape an itinerary far more than the weather does. Month-by-month conditions, the weeks to avoid, and how far ahead to book.
  • Is Israel Safe to Visit? — a straight answer, the official sources to check yourself, how conditions vary by region, and what actually happens if something changes mid-trip.

Understanding the places

The Places section covers individual sites in depth: what is actually there, what is contested, what the access rules are, and how long each one really takes. Most visitors can reach these places on their own; what they lose is the time spent finding the stops, and the stories behind them:

  • Temple Mount — the access rules that decide which day your Jerusalem itinerary runs
  • Western Wall Tunnels — timed entry is required, and tours often sell out several days in advance. Booking ahead is highly recommended.
  • Via Dolorosa — a devotional route, not an archaeological one
  • Mount of Olives — the panoramic view that puts Jerusalem into perspective and makes the rest of the city easier to understand
  • Masada — easy to visit independently, but a guide brings the site to life through its dramatic history, the surrounding region, and stories and details easily missed on your own
  • Tel Aviv — a great city to explore independently. A guide adds the stories, hidden places, and context behind the city you see today.

Still deciding what kind of trip you want?

The Tours page lists what we run, from a two-and-a-half-hour food walk to full days in the desert and the Galilee. Every one of them is built around the group rather than a fixed route, so the listing is a starting point rather than a menu.

If you would rather just describe the trip and let us come back with something, tell us about it. You will get a day-by-day outline with no obligation, and an honest answer about what fits your dates.
