Christian Galilee and the Sea of Galilee

Jewish Galilee and the Kinneret

How the day is shaped

The Galilee is about two and a half hours north of Jerusalem and under two from Tel Aviv, so a day here is a real day out. Three or four sites with time to sit by the water is a better day than six sites and a schedule, and the lake is best in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is low and the tour buses are elsewhere.

Practical notes

A full day, roughly eight to nine hours. The Galilee is about two and a half hours north of Jerusalem and under two from Tel Aviv, so the drive is part of the day.

The sites are spread out, so this is a driving day with walking at each rather than a continuous walk. That suits mixed-ability groups well.

Spring is the obvious season — green hills and wildflowers for a few weeks — but the lake is good year-round, and best in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is low.

Modest dress is required at the churches: shoulders and knees covered.
