Culinary walking tour
Sarona Market — A Templar Village & Culinary Hot Spot
Restored 19th-century Templar buildings housing Tel Aviv’s most sophisticated food destination: European charm meeting Israeli innovation.
The market
Wander through the sunlit corridors of this indoor-outdoor market, tasting your way through stalls run by passionate chefs and food artisans.
The village underneath it
Hear the story of the German Templars who built this village, and discover how their architectural legacy became the backdrop for Israel’s most exciting food scene. The same community built the German Colony in Jerusalem, and standing in both is the clearest way to understand what they were trying to do here.
Between bites, explore the surrounding gardens, boutique shops, and restored homes that make Sarona a favorite for locals and visitors alike.
Practical notes
About three hours on foot, at an easy pace: through the restored Templar village and the indoor market at Sarona.
Come hungry. The tastings add up to a meal rather than a snack.
Shabbos closes the street from Friday afternoon until Saturday night, so the tour runs Sunday to Friday. Friday morning is the busiest and the best.
Sarona is largely indoor and level, which makes it the easiest of the food tours underfoot.
Tell Yona about allergies and dietary needs when you book. The stops are chosen around them.
- Tastings may include
- Artisanal cheese and bread, international street food tastings, gourmet desserts, and a hidden drink
- Swapping options
- The tour can be booked without food tastings
